19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Victory also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, took control to create a final set.

He saved 4 early chances in a competitive final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
